Arrival

We arrived in Tokyo no worse for the wear (other than Naomi who had a bad headache) and headed to immigration and customs.

Being the geniuses that we are we didn't fill out the forms on the plane they give us thinking it would be fine to do so once we land. We got to immigration to a totally empty lineup and as I waited for Naomi to fill out the papers I watched in dismay as probably 4 planes worth of people slowly filled up the lines. A feeling of true despair.

After waiting in the line for about 15min a staff member noticed we had a baby and got us into the priority line up which we should have gone into. Oops.

Travelling with a child does have some advantages. That being one of them.  The other being expedited security checks before boarding. Of course that is only a benefit if your kid stays behaved so as to make it enjoyable.

We headed to the hotel shuttle bus and it was thankfully empty other than 2 people. A nice quiet ride for about an hour and a half with all the bright flashing lights you can imagine. Charles enjoyed looking out the window at all lights and cars and stayed quite the whole time.

(First pic is one of my favourite fast food joints. Nothing but beef stir fry dishes in all kinds of sizes and spices).

We got to our hotel (the same one as last time) and crawled up to our microbial sized room to dump our bags. Then it was time for our first big dinner and we excitedly headed to the corner store (Lawson, one of the 4 big chains) for our "delicious" pre-made bentos (lunch box). I didn't take pictures of these due to most likely exhaustion..or the way they looked. Mine was fried chicken with tartar sauce on rice. And inexplicably some spaghetti under neath it. The all around western combo it seems.

(It was something like this)

I was already passing out before 8pm and went to bed pretty quick. I was woken around 2am by slaps to the face by Charles who decided we had slept enough. Or the lights going on randomly as the buttons are built into the headstand (he loves buttons). This happened periodically for until 5ish.

The next morning we ate leftovers and killed time by watching tv until it was time to head to our bus again back to the airport (as there is another bus there to catch to take us deeper into Tokyo).

And here is a video of Steve Jobs promoting candy, most likely during his departure from Apple:
